Welcome to our blog! I’m Cara Armstrong – inventor, Founder and CEO of Baby Barista. My entrepreneurial journey began in 2011 in a tiny kitchen in the middle of the night while struggling to feed my infant daughter, Mia. At the time I was wrapping my head around the news that my baby girl had been diagnosed with Down syndrome, and her hungry cries almost broke me in half. As a hard-working emergency nurse with three children (one with special needs), I felt stretched beyond my limits, and I questioned whether I was the right mother for the job.
What I didn’t know at that time was that Mia would inspire something inside of me that would not only make me a better mother, but a person I never thought I would become – the fearless leader of a consumer technology company and an impassioned advocate for the special needs community. My path has been punctuated with incredible peaks and lowly valleys, hard lessons and incredible victories. I have come to realize that the jobs of CEO, advocate, and mom challenge me to dig deeper within myself, to discover super-powers that I never knew I had, and to trust the guidance of my own heart.
This blog is for people like me who are taking chances and redefining who they are through a relentless pursuit of a higher purpose. If you can take anything away from my experience that benefits your own important journey, I would be so happy.
I would love to hear from you! So please leave your thoughts and questions in the comments below, and I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
